No. The academy is built for people starting from the outside, and it assumes nothing. Roughly a third of members come from hospitality, sales, operations or university; another third come from yacht crew looking to move ashore; the rest are already adjacent to the industry and want the commercial side properly explained.
No, and this matters. Yacht Charter 101 teaches the brokerage business: how charter companies find clients, present yachts, negotiate, contract, prepare and manage real charters. It is a career and skills academy, not a guide to booking your own holiday.
The free community is where you stay close to the industry: discussions, market insights, questions and networking. The academy is the structured learning: 10 chapters, lessons, written material, practical exercises with real enquiries, the curated 250+ brokerage shortlist, a 1:1 session with Jochem and alumni access. Most members work through the core chapters in two to four weeks at a steady pace, then return to specific chapters as they apply for roles or work their first enquiries. Access is lifetime, so there is no deadline and nothing gets locked away from you.

No, and be careful with anyone who says otherwise. What the academy gives you is the knowledge, the process, the language and the access. Some members have moved into brokerage roles within weeks. Others take longer, and results depend on the effort you put into outreach, relationships and real work.
Membership, lessons and payments all run through Skool, the platform the academy has always used. Payment and refund terms are set out in our payment policy, and if anything about them is unclear, ask before you enrol rather than after.
The introductions will be familiar, the commercial detail usually is not. Chapters on qualifying enquiries, negotiating without discounting on reflex, the contract, the APA reconciliation and soft skills are where experienced people tend to get the most value.
